A Great Part of My Day

Was taking a break in the mall and sitting in a chair trying to get my MASTER PLAN together so I would be focused and not OVER SPEND as usual! Lo and behold, here walks in my niece whom I have not seen in ummmmm….. I shall not say how long it has been but ……..It’s wonderful when you KNOW you have a few folk who love you for “REAL”…No strings attached, no hidden agendas or motives…they love you for you, with all your faults, &  all your idiosyncrasies because they see the “essence” of who you are, and you can be “just plain ol’ you” with them, without all the “stuff”…Man, true LOVE from true FOLKS is an awesome thing…deeeep siiiiiigh… Seeing her REALLY made my whole weekend worth staying in my tri- state area! Grateful to see her and blessed to share and swap stories of LIFE and knowing that we have and had shared a great deal of similarities was just astonishing…..

We laughed..talked…..I cried….we hugged….we paused in silenced…we flirted..we cracked jokes…we mini complained and lifted up Jesus!

yeah – I am talking about my lovely niece  and she is an amazing 26 year old young woman who loves God….shopping….family…music…cats…ME and LIFE!

There are a few people who I KNOW loves me without a million questions that I  must ask first…. what am I doing these days… where have I been etc.. they are just glad to see me and that I am doing AMAZING!……

OKAY – the moral to this quick blog is to tell you to ……enjoy people who desire to enjoy you back!

Always A Sacrifice –

Another COLD night out with my little man with his baseball games… I have been fighting the cold weather via my son’s activities since he was 5 years old and I thought that since he is NOW 10 that things would be a piece a cake or at least a skinny little piece of pie! Nope – cold is cold and frigid weather is still and will always be frigid weather!!!.. LOL

Whew and I thought that going to Boy Scouts 2 times a week staying out for 3 hour evenings was torture – but GEESH – all of these amazing activities that I seem to have to place him in by desire and  due to the lack of Christian Male GENUINE role models that has the DNA of consistency – I almost HAVE TO DO IT and keep him busy as a bee as well as busy as a beaver….that keeps chucking away at activities!

I was tired….frustrate with personal things but through it all… at least during “his moment” I could not allow him to see me sweat….. but I tell you raising kids alone is hard but Mothers raising sons….whew Jesus – very semi difficult because to me the whole process is a tad bit sensitive! Daughters and Fathers / Sons and Fathers were matches made in Heaven evidently and it shows up in relationships. It does not matter how amazing mothers are – fathers are always missed in a child’s life when they are absent…. It is how God made it – It is how God intended it …so shall it be so!

At least his team won tonight in the 45 degree weather right? At least we get to come home by 9 pm right? At least we live close to the baseball field right? At least his homework is already complete right? At least I get off work early all week right? At least I did my running around and can come straight home for the next few days right?

With even all of those positives that I stated….it still does not make MY LIFE less busy –

Raising Daughters

Uggghhhh!!! Can you feel the ugggggghhhhh in my voice and in my heart, I mean seriously!

The whole point of punishment and discipline is helping to keep our children safe and teaching them to be good human beings. But what if they keep pushing back? Is there a time when you have to just let them face the sometimes-ugly results of their actions?  Uggghhh! This can be difficult for a parent, who wants the best for their child, to accept.

My super silly 10 year old son gives me NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PROBLEMS whatsoever! Lord, help because they are like night and day.. I really wish that she had even HALF of his tendencies!

I mean my daughter who is 19 speaks the language of wanting to CHANGE but does not whole heartedly put forth the actions via the language of wanting to CHANGE! So what is a Christian Single Parent to do…….. Pray…Pray…Pray….. but in the meantime – between time and NOW –

I want to CHOKE as well as HUG my daughter daily…. I shared with her that we have a Culture Clash issue – the way that I live and condition my house is not ANYTHING of what she has been exposed to and used to since she has not been living with me and it can make a person COO – COO for COCOA PUFFS!

She has such a huge heart but my GOD!!!!!!!!!! So rugged and rough around the edges – I mean heck –  who would NOT want change if they have been living in a crazy state of being?

A family is not a democracy. I have REFUSED and will not be swayed by the “it’s a free world” and “I can do what I want” argument. God placed me to be her dictator, and for good reason. Democratic families crumble………..we are not on the same level – I just wish that she would really get that MUCH NEEDED epiphany – sooner than later….

uggghhhh…….. whew…I needed to vent and now I am 75% better……..

Kids and the Bible

Many Christian parents face a paradox: How can some children hear the good news of the Bible and believe, while others hear the same message and remain unaffected? While the process of faith may be miraculous, it is not entirely mysterious. Jesus explained it in His parable of the sower (Matthew 13:1-23). Teaching received without understanding kills the yield. Faith with shallow roots withers and dies. Distractions, worries and desires for other things choke the Word. But one who hears the Word and understands it bears fruit.

How can we help our children receive the Word and bear fruit? Jesus’ parable inspires several practical planting tips.

Many parents and teachers attempt to impart faith primarily through the transfer of Bible facts. Those seeds will not likely take root unless kids truly understand the meaning of the facts. Sunday school worksheets often use fill-in-the-blanks and word puzzles to drill children on their factual knowledge. But unscrambling the word forgiveness in a puzzle is far less important than understanding the meaning of forgiveness.

Hearing is not enough. Reading is not enough. Memorizing is not enough — unless your goal is to produce a Bible “Jeopardy” champion. Concentrate your time on helping kids really understand God’s Word, its relevance today and how you apply it.

Dissatisfaction Random

We’ve been taught to believe that dissatisfaction is a bad thing, and that we should do everything possible to avoid it. Shove it down. Ignore it. Act like it doesn’t bother us. Take a pill. Plaster on a smile. Buy something new, or decide that misery is part of “bearing our cross.” But above all, don’t consider that God might be using it to make us uncomfortable so we’ll want to swim in another ocean where our gifts can shine.

Don’t get me wrong; dissatisfaction can be a result of spiritual warfare (Eph. 6:10-12) and not an indication that we are out of God’s will. But it can also be a road sign that He has another purpose for us.

So if you’re miserable in your current career or job, (and you have been for a long time), you’ve prayed, sought counsel from others, looked for guidance through Scripture, and you’re still miserable, consider that God may have another plan.
