Supporting your children’s sporting activities is one of the most important things you can do when it comes to helping your youngsters to get fit and exercise more.
However much they enjoy sports, without your help and support, they could easily become discouraged and disheartened.
Therefore, it is vital that parents support the sporting choices of their children, no matter how good or bad they are – and even if it means a few extra petrol miles taking them to training and matches…and EVERYTHING else that they desire to partake in!
YOU WILL BE TIRED – but it will be worth it…..
Practical support is just as important as the emotional, cheerleading type of support your children need. They may not realize how important this practical support is, but if you withdrew it, they would soon know about it and realise they could not do it on their own. Fetching and taking them places is the main way of supporting them – and yes, it may be that they take this for granted.
But if they are enjoying their sport and staying fit, what parent would really decline to run them to matches, training and even club night so they can get to know their teammates better?
Other practical support can include the old bugbear of money – few sports are free to compete in, ( you will have to really SEARCH FOR THOSE )……so you may have to face up to the fact that your child’s sports activities will cost you money, be it for equipment, coaching or kit.
Being right is a matter of perspective as well. I may see right differently than you do…so we get back to the greatest law, which is the law of love. God is love and if we show his attributes, we will truly be in the right in the end, even if we do not see things the way others see them.
Showing love and understanding towards other people’s frailties and weaknesses is what God prefers. We could be right but let it be tempered with kindness towards the other person. God commands us to love one another, that includes being kind.
Something God slowly whittles away at over time until your life is no longer about you if you give your life to Him. Life becomes about serving God and serving others above all else. When we can come to a point in our life where what we want is of little significance, we no longer have to be right, our personal value in this world means nothing!
As the bible says, we are stronger when we are at our weakest moments, when all we can do is turn it all over to God, He then fills us, build us, holds us up.
When women become MOTHERS…..sometimes it seems as if “our lives” stop as well…… Although being a good and productive mother is very important… However, losing ourselves in “any role” is not good if it leaves US drowning..
Welp, it is time to change the S into a DIFFERENT letter of our choice! LOL
My youngest will be 11 years old in a few weeks and GOD KNOW and everyone else knows that I love my son dearly….. However, over the last month..I have advised him AFTER my own self.. ( lol ) that things would be a little different in our lives…. He smiled and laughed but honey ..he has NO IDEA…..
Over the last three summers I have been sending him away to different camps and I have spaced them out for the sake of us BOTH missing one another..LOL However, last summer…I indeed “prepped my baby” to be gone 3 times… and he stated that he did not mind going away but it was different not seeing me so often…. Then he stated, he just does not want to be gone for a WHOLE MONTH at a time – which I understand and I would not do that either…
I would miss him too much myself!! But baby… this summer.. >BYE! He leaves for the FIRST camp in 2 days and comes back Sunday early afternoon..
Then GONE twice in June for two weeks then GONE once in July for one week and then GONE once in August for a week. Do you hear me singing? So having a week off every month so I can just BREATH and he can go play, have fun in the surroundings of good Christian Camps… He indeed is a good boy but, I need air!
Give me a minute…. I am working on another week trip right before the school year starts! LOL
Having your own time is crucial…….to maintain your happiness / sanity!
