Parenting is HARD ENOUGH in this day / era of 2013 so having the desire to communicate should be a TOP PRIORITY with a great deal of parents!
Parenting is all about communicating with your child. Positive two-way communication is essential to building your child’s self-esteem. Children thrive with words of encouragement and praise. There are simple things you can do to improve how you communicate with your child.
If you set up clear and open communication patterns with your child in their early years, you are setting up good practices for the future.
Children’s ability to manage stress, feel confident and motivate themselves in later life has a lot to do with their early childhood experiences. A person’s ‘self-concept’ is their sense of who they are and how they feel about their place in their family and community.
Never think that you are asking too many questions when it comes to your child’s well being – Honestly, that is not even possible! Learn to know your child just as how a spouse would learn and study one another –
Positive relationships between parents and children are an important part of building a child’s positive self-concept. A child who feels constantly blamed, judged and criticised may grow up to become an adult with a negative self-concept.
My son and I talk about EVERYTHING – yes….I do mean everything! With my son being 11 ( turning 11 years of age this friday – May 31st) it is very imperative to keep the lines of communication open at all times.
Relationships are not easy, regardless what the age brackets are. However, if you have established a great foundation – you shall be ahead of any battles that you and your child (ren) may face up ahead.
