More Political Talk / Views

Every belief that citizens try to express politically is rooted in some philosophy or religion or some set of assumptions about society and its
well-being. They do not come from out of nowhere. Religiously-based convictions about society and morality are as legitimate as those that spring from non-religious philosophies. Hence, Christians, Muslims, or Jews may seek to get laws passed that are rooted in their religious convictions. Such laws are appropriate as long as they have a secular purpose and do not constitute an establishment of religion.

Whether these laws are wise or worthy of enactment must be judged by whether they promote the common good as judged by national values not by the fact that they are or are not rooted in the religious faith of those who support them.

A religious foundation is neither required not forbidden. Neither secular humanism nor religious faith is privileged in this regard. Ideally and in principle, religious believers should not seek to get laws passed on religious grounds but because they express the values of the secular society. These norms and goals are defined by the founding documents and cultural traditions as they have come to be embedded in the common life. For example, if people of faith want to crusade for universal health coverage, e. g., they should argue for the policy not because the Bible or the Pope authorizes it or because God wills it but because it promotes “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” and because Congress is constitutionally permitted to spend money to provide for the “general welfare.”

Likewise, religious groups that seek to outlaw racial or gender discrimination should make their case on the claim that it would be good for society as a whole not on the fact that it is authorized by their religious faith.  In practical terms, however, if believers feel that distinguishing between the religious
basis and the political implications of their faith is an intolerable splitting of a unitary set of beliefs, then let them act accordingly. If  people actually
convince other voters to support legislation because the Bible, the Pope, Buddhist teachings, the Koran, or church doctrine mandates it, not much can be done about it except to make an effort to persuade them that there is a better way.

TRUST ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We cannot determine or control the reasons why people vote or support the policies they do or prevent them from convincing others to do the same. In the voting booth citizens are a law unto themselves. They can vote for whatever or whoever they want for any reason that motivates them. It is pointless to demand purity of principle on this matter. Voters act out of prejudice, self-interest, racial identity, ignorance, and for all sorts of other good and bad reasons, including their religious beliefs, philosophical commitments, and a devotion to justice based on American principles. Let us be realists about the matter.

Democracy is an untidy, often VERY messy,  matter…..IF you do not believe me… look at AMERCIA! Ugghhhhh……

The people can do what they want restrained only by Constitutional mandates. But it is better when acting politically in the public arena for believers to translate  religiously-based beliefs into the traditions, language, and values of the secular order. This is called for as a matter of principle. It is advisable pragmatically as well, since the tying of policy or voting explicitly to the tenets of a particular
religion, denomination, or sect may repel  large number of voters and hinder rather than further the cause.

I love Politics AND History……………

My Own Campaign Button –

Now do you like Politics? LOL

A Big Sigh of Relief!

People wonder why I love Governor Chris Christie!! Who asks about elections during a storm? As you look at the video, you can clearly tell that Gov. Christie wanted to flip out!

Who cares what political party he is affiliated with because as the 2012 year closes…. to be honest, none of the political parties are what they used to be via morals, ethics and stances! Some have changed for the better and certainly also for the worse…

Nonetheless, in a perfect world…. I know if Gov. Christie would have placed his hat in the ring for the 2012 Presidential Election, that he would have surely won.

To ME……He is like President Bill Clinton ( whom I would politically stalk because he is sooooo intelligent! LOL ) but anyway, regardless if you love him or hate him via his political party BUT you respect the heck out of both of them because they GET THINGS DONE….

Since Bill Clinton has been in office things in this country has NOT been the same and ran even semi – smoothly….

Gov. Chris Christie 2016 ( i hope ) Sounds VERY nice doesn’t it!

Quick Random-

Remember these five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred 2. Free your mind from worries

3. Live simply 4. Give more 5. Expect less

Oh yeah…… I LOVE my mommy!!! She is ummmmm  72/ 73  years soooo young! LOL She indeed ROCKS…I am so blessed to have been raised by her and thank God she is STILL alive and well >>>> I AM….. super grateful

Maybe It’s ME –

There is just something very AWKWARD about this photo and what it is suppose to mean! LOL – What does this interesting pose stand for in this photo? It makes me take a pause-

Okay I know that 2012 means that this is the CURRENT year that we are living in …… but what message are they trying to convey exactly and who is their target audiences? (not me)

Okay I do get that the African American man on the right is the current president of the United States and the Caucasion/ Anglo Saxon  man on the left is the current Vice President of the United States. ugghh –

What I do not get is why they are both standing together with the year 2012 above their heads!

LOL – Are they both trying to say that they are the BEST choice for this country in November?

UGGGHHHH – compared to Mitt Romney and his new running mate, Paul Ryan…..I guess that this photo does represent a SEMI – CHANCE of a normal life. Sad thing is that on the Democratic side, there were NO other options because no one else stepped up to run against President Obama…..

It is just very strange because any and everyone has had complaints on how he has run this country but no one came forward to try to make a difference on the Democratic side….

Sure, I do know that running a campaign at this stature can be a strain and cause a very substaintial pinch in a candidates personal finances – however there are some that had the finances but obviously felt that it “was not worth it” at this point in time to challenge him and his “colorful policies”…… ( can someone help me send SMOKE SIGNALS ) because this country is in dire need of help in all aspects of the forum.

ugghhh- Now tell me again why we cannot change legislation to allow a president to be voted in for a 3rd term if THE PEOPLE elect him or her?  Also, does anyone know how to contact former Congressman J.C.Watts, Governor Christie and former New York City Mayor Guliani?

Welp, I NEVER thought that a person other than an AFRICAN AMERICAN during the 20th century could share some feelings about real racism!  They say that there is a FIRST FOR EVERYTHING HUH!!! I am sure that I can speak for a “few black women and a WHOLE LOT OF Black men” and say… ” WELCOME TO OUR WORLD”

The new laws that passed in Arizona “allowing / permitting / pushing” the legal authorities to actually STOP Hispanic / Latino citizens in public if they look suspicious! I think that it is indeed HORRID behavior and now I guess people will NOW UNDERSTAND how the African community used to and still feels like. It is called RACISM and the police departments around the country found to be what “they considered” a nicer word of RACIAL PROFILING.  How in the world can that be considered less gripping than just being prejudice?

When they discussed legislation pertaining this bill and they had the NERVE to use the word “papers” for the Hispanic / Latino community, it made me think of the Jewish community and what they had to go through in Germany!

This country has GONE from land of the free and home of the brave…….to Land of who pays the most money to pass a bill to home of the people that want to deal with it or leave! People who have lived in this country and is working being a productive member of society has to get stopped out on a nice summer day with their family just because the police have the right to check their immigration status??

Sad thing about this whole thing is that there are some politicians who have hired illegal men to do their yardwork…. and the women to babysit their children because they knew that they could “get away with” paying them lower wages! This country makes even the best military man or woman tear up because they also see that they too arent treated respectfully – equally when they return home. BIG SIGH…

So so so so sad!!  Honestly… this election has left the  good ole’ American people no REAL choices for the next 4 years in this sad presidential election to come. It saddens me that not one Democratic Nominee dared to run against President Barack Obama! I know that it costs millions of dollars to run for a presidential election BUT to ONLY HAVE ONE CHOICE is sad. At least the Republicans had enough sense and strength to have at least 8 contenders!

I guess my blog is all over the place because my life and this country is all over the place!!!! Geesh.. can something be right?

– Live from Afghanistan!

I want to get excited because the leader of the country that I live in is on television to give the nation a speech about new things that he has done – currently in the process of doing and will be doing in the future.

President Barack Obama (ABC)

Yawwwwwwning and Yawwwwwing some more! LOL – Welp folks, SORRY – I am so NOT excited to watch him on television. My muslim / Christian  president is a very interesting man. Consistency and Transparency would be wonderful things for him to display…… I understand that the 8 years BEFORE he was elected into the White House was very hard to deal with. However, in 4 years – and another election coming up – I DO NOT have any reason to pull the lever by his name for 2012!

Dear President Bill Clinton,

Can you try to push to amend legislation about how many terms that a president is able to serve because I miss you! Now granted, a great deal of people still have you as a tainted president due to your marital transgressions against your wife and I am NOT condoning what you like other politicians have done. HOWEVER – This country’s statistics do not lie and you obtained financial freedom and pushed a great deal of legislation to get passed for the betterment of ALL people especially minorities – so thank you. ( The African American Community still have you pinned as the 1st Black President and you know why ) Anyway, I am positive that you have also thought about wishing that the bi -laws were different  via presidency as well because watching your wife Hillary Clinton in her present position is as close as you will get to running The White House Affairs.

Dear Congressman J.C. Watts,

Your record is simply amazing! Although you retired and hung up your hat / your seat due to your desire to spend more time with your family was an honorable thing to do – please know that American Citizens outside of OKLAHOMA supported you!

You changed the conservative look in The Republican Party and who would of thought that a speech that where you were just “simply being yourself” and showing that you were just as educated and ambitious as anyone else who took the time to study and believe in themselves could sweep you through tons of State House Committee Boards to change various pieces of legislation. When you gave The Republican Response back in 1997 after President Bill Clinton spoke – MY HAIRS stood up behind my neck! Whew… and people think that this current President, Barack Obama is a great Orator, they obviously have never heard you speak. Well wait… alot of people may not even have heard of you because you are black and a republican – but that does not matter because I have experienced that as well. Why do all African Americans HAVE TO BE REGISTERED DEMOCRATS? Just a question to ponder!

Now granted, you did stir up the initial process to IMPEACH President Clinton and I cannot hold any ill feelings about you for that. Nonetheless, you indeed have proven over the many terms that you were in office that you not only start processes but also complete them. Thank you for sticking with YOUR OWN VIEWS when you chose not to join The Black Caucas.

Dear Governor Chris Christie,

I know that you LOVE running the state of New Jersey but you know that you would have knocked Mitt Romney out of the running. You know legislation like the back of your hand, you are fair and speak up without fear of retaliation from either political party and I love it! By the way, the slack that you took via lowering the flags when singer Whitney Houston died did not sway you from your decision. Although, I did agree with the majority of the people on their initial reasoning of why they did NOT want you to grant the lovely Miss Houston with that honor but I admired the fact that you “heard the people and their opinions” but still stuck with yours to lower the flags. Hey, it is ultimately your decision because it was indeed the people who elected you to run the state of New Jersey.

Dear Mayor Rudy Guiliani,

God knows that America – mainly the city of New York City adores you on and before the strength and leadership that you showed on 911 but why would you run two other terms and keep dropping out? Your wife wants you home with her and the kids and I respect that but I want you to know that you would not have to campaign too hard to win a presidential nominee from the Republican Party. Not so much that the part affiliation matters because I have discovered as well as you, that Tea Party, Democrats, Conservatives, Moderates and Liberals love you! However, I know that you are bored and have millions of money to blow but please stop being seen with Mitt Romney. You have not suppported him the whole campaign season so what are you doing? Let the people know okay?

Respectfully Submitted,

A Supporter for 4 Different Great Presidential Potentials!
