My Mental Massage

Just because Thanksgiving Day has passed, there’s no reason to stop being grateful……..

Something that has brought a positive change in my life recently has been the practice of turning negative statements around and finding something in the circumstance for which to be grateful.

“I am thankful for my 11 year old – PRE -teen-ager who complained about doing dishes BEFORE he left to go with his dad, because that means he is at home, not out on the streets somewhere.

“I am thankful for the taxes that I pay, because it means that I’m employed. “I am thankful for the mess I have to clean up at my house, because it means I’m more fortunate than thousands of people around the world. I have a home.
image

“I am thankful for the clothes that fit a little too snugly, because it means I have plenty to eat. “I’m thankful for my shadow that watches me work, because it means I’m outside in the sunshine. “I am thankful for my mother’s house SMELLING HORRIBLE of cooking gizzards..chitlings etc… because that means that she is STILL ALIVE to drive me insane of eating these nasty things and making my clothes stink” LOL
image

“I’m thankful for my oldest son who is in college being moody over the last few weeks but he makes me smile everytime he CHOOSES to text and call me. Also for my daughter being even MORE moodier but smiles when she emails me.

“I’m thankful for all the complaining about government and politics, because it reminds me I live in a country that allows me freedom of speech. “I’m thankful for the parking spot I found all the way at the end of the lot, because it means I have the strength and ability to walk the distance.

“I’m thankful for my heating bill, because it means I am warm. “I’m thankful for the lady behind me in church who sings off-key, because it means I am blessed with the gift of hearing. “I’m thankful for the pile of laundry that reminds me that I — and my family — have plenty of clothes to wear.

“I’m thankful for weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day, because it means I’m capable of working hard and making a contribution to the lives of others. “I’m thankful each day when the alarm goes off, and I hear it, because it means I’m still alive. There is still time to serve God and others. There are still opportunities to make a difference.

“Each day is a gift. Each burden holds a blessing, and every moment of life offers an opportunity that will come only once in a lifetime.

“I am thankful — just because — I am.”

I am known to ALWAYS be so so overly serious but my love muffin son has forced me to LOCATE my funnybone!
image

With his various activities, most days coming home SUPER late – we are stopping by a drive throough pick up window or sitting down for the last 30 minutes of a restaraunt before they close…..  crazy I know!

image

I have been celebrating my birthday since February even though most of you knew that it was last month but I am still getting well wishes…

( THANKS FOR ALL OF THE CALLS, EMAILS AND PRIVATE POSTS)

Nonetheless, Im still super happy and making sure that I stay on tract!!! I vowed to start celebrating my birthday for the whole 28 days since last year for my “late father’s sake”…. Now, all I want to do is laugh and seriously enjoy MY LIFE…

Random Appreciation-

I dedicate my whole week to the most remarkable, loving, caring, compassionate, prayer warrior, friend, confident, soldier who will celebrate another day upon this earth and see yet another day that she nor I have not seen.

I do not have to wait until her birthday to CELEBRATE her living above ground. Her birthday was back in November 2012 but I still honor MY MOTHER !!

She is the air beneath all her children, Grand children, Great grandchildren.      ” Mommy Cakes” my nickname I gave her, has been through many trials and tragedies in life, but she taught me to preservere and be what God will have ME to be!

So, I thought that as her daughter I am supposed to act spoiled and rotten….but indeed it is she who acts spoiled with me and even pouts if she does not talk to me at least 5 times a day!!! GEESH….Yes, but I would NOT have it any other way! Nice to have a genuine – sweet – pure – and Godly Mother / Daughter relationship…

It is good to dedicate your time to the person who brought you into this world AFTER you dedicate time and your Life to the one who made it ALL POSSIBLE…  >>>> GOD!

So indeed I do bless God he has allowed her to see another day and I LOVE MY MOMMY!

Christmas Prayer –

20121221_075859

Father, thank You, thank You, thank you for all Your many, many, many blessings that You have given us. Father this is that day that You have made. We will rejoice and be glad. Oh, that You would bless us indeed, and enlarge our territory, that Your hand would be with us, and that You would keep us from evil, and that we may not cause pain!

Father we ask You to grant us what we have requested the way You did for Jabez according to Chronicles 4:9-10. Father, as we get ready to be with families and friends this Christmas, we ask You to keep us as we travel up and down the highways and airway. Let no danger harm us. Father, we thank You all our family members.

Keep them and bless us. Our Father who art in heaven Hallowed be thy Name, thy Kingdon come, Thy will be done., On earth as it is in heaven, Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts, as we  forgive our debtors. And lead us not in to temptation, But deliver us from evil, For thine is the kingdom, And the power, and the glory, Forever, Amen!

Now Father, bless all children and parents keep them together in love. Touch and heal the sick everywhere. Hold It Right There! Don’t worry about a gift. God gave us the great gift, Jesus! Love everyone and have a Merry and Blessed Christmas!

Family

Im blessed…..

It has indeed been a while since my last blog! Well, things have been just sooooo busy in all areas of my life…… for the BETTER, thank you Jesus! Too much to go into but the list is long and some things are nice to keep to myself… ( for now )……Obtaining different perspectives on things…people and life will always make you re evaluate what is important. Love is something that God has commanded us to do for loved ones as well as enemies….we are to LOVE one another –

It is great when you can recognize the blessings that are in front of you as well as lying within you – waking up and being able to spend time with whom you love and do the things that make you happy is a HUGE blessing. Nothing can compare to the love of God and being PERMITTED/ GRANTED the grace of choosing to follow Christ and His benefits.20121222_201657

Please take a small moment and FIND OUT who and what is important in your circle – pluck up all the weeds so that your original garden can bloom again! Do not allow negative situations to kill the garden that God himself has divinely blessed you with…..Know that it is up to us to plant it and nurture it correctly….

20121222_201121

From this Christmas on, it is imperative to make it about family. The gifts and running around, the sadness and disappointment of not having enough… Release that. Allow your mind to be at peace. Get your family around you and celebrate them.  Look into the mirror and ask if you have done all that you can to bring peace… My younger son and I is amazed on how his older brother has MATURED!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!! He still has a great ways to go but I am grateful for the tiny steps that my son has chosen to take on his own……It is a blessing and yes I am soooooo proud! ( WHEW – FINALLY )

THIS is what Christmas is – A family gathered to [celebrate a child]. So celebrate each other. Nothing matters more than your family time spent together I do urge you to love those who YOU call and consider -FAMILY.

Politics

dream 2 nightmare

The I have a dream speech…..fortunately still LIVES on within the hearts and minds of a great deal of people today. As so it should because it spoke of freedom..hope and change for everyone who had breath in their bodies. Why is it that minorities of ANY RACE “seem to be” more accepting, loving and understanding than MAINSTREAM AMERICA? ( Just a thought )

This may seem like a funny post to some but you know me!! I am looking at it in a totally different light!! Whenever the late, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. saw an unjustice taking place….he ran toward it to see how he would be able to make a difference! He left his monument to go see about the people….

Now from monuments being built, to speeches being done and repeated on his behalf, to people getting slogans placed on the side of buildings, to rallies being put together etc. etc. etc.

His statue,  his walks for peace, his sit- ins for justice, his marches on Washington, his time spent away from his family his preaching / speeches, his death STILL should mean something –

Martin Luther King Jr.’s kids are still trying to carry out their father’s dream today! Nonetheless, a dream is something that you think about and wish how things could / should be.

His dreams did eventually turn into reality but overall – some of things that were accomplished have indeed turned a portion of his dreams to nightmares…….. His children even recognizes it. We should NEVER have to question our own race , culture, stances, morals, ethics, religion and beliefs and ask ourselves…….

Did he speak for nothing? did he die for nothing? if not…. show me more ..because one example surely isn’t enough
