“The Importance of Values and Morals.” Sounds like a no-brainer of an article for us, a people of faith. They are the code we live by in a civil and just society. They are what we use to guide our interactions with others, with our friends and family, in our businesses and professional behavior. Our values and morals are a reflection of our spirituality; our character. They are what we hope to model for our children and the children around us, because children do watch us as they develop their own sense of right and wrong. Everyone knows their importance, don’t they?

Well, maybe not. One only has to watch Jerry Springer-type shows or the spate of “Reality TV Shows” to find evidence to the contrary. Every day in the news we hear about crooked politicians, greedy CEOs, insider trading, embezzling evangelists caught in “love triangles,” “good Christians” doing very bad things. On talk-radio, news shows, at our churches, all around us, we hear about the decline of values, morals, ethics, civility, manners and, of course, common decency. People talk nostalgically about the “good old days” when Americans lived according to a set of standards of which they could be proud.

So have we really become a nation without values and morals? I don’t think so. It’s just that everyone has their own ideas about which values and morals are the ones we should follow. The choices are as varied as our country is heterogeneous. One only has to look inside the different church denominations to see the diversity of concepts about moral behavior. That realization doesn’t stop each of us from believing that our particular values and morals form the “right” set– the set everyone else should accept as well…….

The land was BUILT upon Christian principles but now that our land is BUILT – we want to do our own thing and make up our own rules to live by –

Well to be honest – that is how the civil war occurred on American soil…… How about we grab what legislation is good for EVERYONE and throw away the rest!

My name is??

It Is Better To Fail In Originality, Than To Succeed In Imitation

Not knowing who you are will make you become someone else. Whether if being you hurts, makes you laugh or makes you cry – Just Be You. If everyone in the world “picked” someone else to be, there would be a “higher number” of imposters in the world. There would also leave no room for honesty, honor, loyalty and trust. How? Well if you met me and I am telling you that “my name is” Valarie D. Coleman / Valarie Cole / V.D. Coleman BUT I am talking like Hillary Clinton, dressing like Michelle Obama, walking like The Queen of England, living like an Omish woman, eating like a size 2 model etc. etc. etc. The point is, when will you EVER meet, fellowship and know V.D. Coleman?

If I am being at least 3 or 4 people and you have everyone else doing the same thing – we are all walking around being who and doing what?

At the end of EVERYDAY, you are you. You wake up being YOU, you go through your day being YOU, You come home being YOU and you go to sleep at night being YOU. So why not enjoy being you? You have to take the time and find out who you are so you are able to see what you like and what you do not like about yourself…. bottom line, that is why individuals try to become other people or grasp onto charachteristics of them.

Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth…..

Wanting to be someone else, is the waste of the person that you are……

Learn to be what you are, and learn to live with all that you are not………

Don’t live somebody else’s life. Your own should last you a lifetime!

Individuality is the definition of freedom…….

It is the chiefest point of happiness that a man is willing to be what he is………

Accept everything about yourself, You are you and that is the beginning and the end–no apologies, no regrets…………

This is who I am. Nobody said you had to like it………………..

I was once afraid of people saying, “Who does she think she is?” Now I have the courage to stand and say, “This is who I am.”

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind…………..

Folks may call you different, they may say that you can’t win, but it’s not what’s on the outside – It’s what you have within!

Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation……………
