Helping Self...

Just Thinking –

I have been exposed to diversity all of my life but over the last 10 years I have reshifted my focus towards my OWN community. Was it right? No? Did I feel that I had just cause? Yes – the way that the COMMUNITY acts towards one another from within the COMMUNITY left me no choice but to mentally – physically – emotionally – financially – and sometimes even spiritually from the community.

However, after seeing a movie on August 20, 2013 and it changed me in a way that I scared even myself – I love PEOPLE in general and watching history take place and unfold in front of me on a big screen with total silence in the room ( minus a few parts of a movie that may have been edited for viewing ) still made me become aware of emotions that I had NO IDEA I had the ability to even feel towards another person. However – after the movie was over – I went to go and “speak to myself” and purge what I was feeling –

Although I ONLY spoke for about 10 minutes – I still felt as if I indeed had soo much MORE to say – but I was TERRIFIED how it would actually leave from my lips – Black History has a great deal of blemishes in it….. but it cannot be ERASED but it can be used as a tool of how WE ALL CAN do better and promote and push for LOVE AND EQUALITY – Did I get upset? Yes, Did I cry? YES, Did I become bitter? No, Did I pause and re-evaluate my friendships of anyone who is white in my life? Yes.

Did it change my views of them? NO!!  Ugghhh!! Racism is ugly …

Now that I am BETTER and I have CALMED myself down – I feel great – I feel good – I feel free – I feel blessed – I feel strong – I feel different – I feel worthy – I feel accomplished – I feel valued – I feel blessed – I feel invincible – I feel beautiful – I am just honored that I can EVEN FEEL ANYTHING –

Would YOUR Pick Be Accurate?

Okay, like AMERICA…. let’s act as if we are at a carnival or playing a GAME on Facebook…. Which photo would you say is an aggressive person?

The Mindset of Some Cultures

Although this is a cartoon BUT there is truth all through it. I mean really, which headstone is Trayvon Martin? Martin Luther King Jr.? Emmett Till? Darrell Turner Jr? and thousands of other black INNOCENT males? Huh?

Point is that I do not EVER want any of these tombstones to be be connected to or be a representative for anyone who did no wrong to be there.

Let alone yet ANOTHER “racial profile” black male..  Let alone either one if MY OWN sons!

Endangered Species Alert…

The conservation status of a species is an indicator of the likelihood of that endangered species becoming extinct. Many factors are taken into account when assessing the conservation status of a species, including statistics such as the number remaining, the overall increase or decrease in the population over time, breeding success rates, known threats, and so on.The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species is the best-known worldwide conservation status listing and ranking system.

I have wondered how can these lists be made when there are SEVERAL species that have the criteria to be on the list but NEVER make it….but also some species should not even have MADE the list.

TOP 10 ENDANGERED ANIMALS. There are way too many animals that are in danger of extinction, so many are left out, but here is a list of the top 10 most endangered animals in the world in 2013.

HOWEVER, I added 1 to the list because I FEEL THAT THEY ARE ALREADY ON THE LIST but just not documented!!!!!!!!

Here’s the list of the top 10 endangered animals:

1Ivory-billed Woodpecker– This one may already be extinct due to hunting of its feathers and loss of habitat.

2. Amur Leopard-  Only 40 left in the world.

3.Javan Rhinoceros– According to the WWF ,it has been hunted to extinction in Vietnam. The country’s last remaining rhino in the Cat Tien National Park was discovered dead, shot in the leg with its valuable horn cut off, last April. Only between 40 and 60 of the Javan rhino now survive in the world in Indonesia’s Ujung Kulon National Park.

4Northern Sportive Lemur– Threatened by illegal hunting and habitat loss in Madagascar.

5Northern Right Whale– Only 350 left.

6Western Lowland Gorilla– Extinction due to illegal hunting and disease.

7Leatherback Sea Turtle – Worlds largest turtle, their numbers are dropping at an alarming rate. Humans are taking eggs that are laid on beaches.

8. Hawaiian Monk Seal  These seals reside far away from humans, yet their numbers are dropping and scientists are still puzzled as to why. There are less than 1,000 across the islands of Hawaii.

9Chinese Giant Salamander– Humans in Central and Southern China are eating these amphibians into extinction.

10Little Dodo Bird– Relative of the big dodo bird, extinction threatens this little bird. Little dodo birds are disappearing due to habitat loss and illegal hunting.

11. THE BLACK MAN – considered a threat to society predominately in white settings, they have been hunted for over 400 years illegally and the numbers seem to go up drastically during the summer months. Mostly in American states there is a major problem but also in the country of Africa they are slaughtered to death. However, in other places AROUND the world, even if they are not able to be “caught and killed” they are verbally mistreated and constantly prejudged.

Lets hope that the endangered SPECIES list goes down in numbers, ESPECIALLY Number 11 because they should have NEVER even made the list! By the way, black men….like Emmett Till, Martin Luther King Jr. and with Trayvon Martin being the latest has UNFORTUNATELY made the list.

Remembering and Respecting MLK

A great man can never be forgotten – he can only remain to be admired, missed and respected!!! I am personally grateful for all of the sacrifices that this man CHOSE to do on behalf of ALL people.
The Reverend, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was an example that people all over the world can still appreciate and emulate.

Mother Teresa was not the only chosen vessel by God to create, lead and change people’s hearts in the name of the Lord. The Civil Rights Movement was the pedigree to the United States of America’s Freedom!

dream 2 nightmare

The I have a dream speech…..fortunately still LIVES on within the hearts and minds of a great deal of people today. As so it should because it spoke of freedom..hope and change for everyone who had breath in their bodies. Why is it that minorities of ANY RACE “seem to be” more accepting, loving and understanding than MAINSTREAM AMERICA? ( Just a thought )

This may seem like a funny post to some but you know me!! I am looking at it in a totally different light!! Whenever the late, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. saw an unjustice taking place….he ran toward it to see how he would be able to make a difference! He left his monument to go see about the people….

Now from monuments being built, to speeches being done and repeated on his behalf, to people getting slogans placed on the side of buildings, to rallies being put together etc. etc. etc.

His statue,  his walks for peace, his sit- ins for justice, his marches on Washington, his time spent away from his family his preaching / speeches, his death STILL should mean something –

Martin Luther King Jr.’s kids are still trying to carry out their father’s dream today! Nonetheless, a dream is something that you think about and wish how things could / should be.

His dreams did eventually turn into reality but overall – some of things that were accomplished have indeed turned a portion of his dreams to nightmares…….. His children even recognizes it. We should NEVER have to question our own race , culture, stances, morals, ethics, religion and beliefs and ask ourselves…….

Did he speak for nothing? did he die for nothing? if not…. show me more ..because one example surely isn’t enough

MOVIE WAS GREAT……. However I would to add my little 75 cents worth…. I went opening weekend this evening with my 9 year who ASKED ME to go see it before I had even took it upon myself to advise him that we were going anyway! Yes, im sure that because of how I rear him had something to do with it…. We are indeed an “Education FIRST and play later” type of household…. So even if his teacher does not give him homework because its Friday….. Mom is STILL assignming “something to do” even if  it’s a small lesson.

Now being TOTALLY HONEST, when the previews and buzz came out via the movie I said that I was going to see it via SUPPORT because I already knew the story and God bless what they did for this country, for the black race and for the black man… The previews didnt look too good and the marketing was almost zero… there was just no great exciting hype phase to get your vains pumping to see the movie for joy more so than obligation and support. Nonetheless, I STILL DIDNT let that stop me from GOING!

red tails tw Red Tails: The Free Review

As African Americans we can ONLY hope for the best “after we have done our parts”…….. The way that I see it is, if RED TAILS cannot make at least the same amount in movie sales as it did to make….it is a disgrace.

Speaking of Movies

When a grandmother is displayed to act a fool – Tyler Perry makes millions
When black neighborhoods are being negatively displayed – John Singleton makes millions
When girlfriends and wives want a piece of the limelight – Shaunie Oneal makes millions
When young girls chase a dream but dont have no one to teach her how – Lil Wayne makes millions

The list can go on like a bad credit report…….  Negativity and Controversial things and people seem to make a huge portion of African Americans SPEND THEIR MONEY.

If Beyonce was playing a nurse in the military tending to the wounded pilots in the movie – then what?
If Young Jeezy was playing the soldier that got captured in the movie then what?
If Rick Ross was playing a black captain in the movie then what?

If they were giving away free admission – the theatre STILL WOULDNT BE PACKED because “too many” African Americans STILL prove to their onlookers as well as themselves that they only support things that will benefit THEM.

as a people.. we ALL should honestly know “by now or have some type of clue”  and have enough sense to know that when we are supporting a black man or a black woman who is displaying true positivity that is support for ourselves as well.

See realizing this goes soul deep and not skin deep! Skin deep is finally having a black president…. soul deep is respecting the man while he is in office!

Im done….. #fornow

P.S. Go see the movie or at least just purchase a few tickets and give them away to young black kids and advise them how important THEIR history is! I cant get too upset because as a people we STILL dont do Martin Luther King Jr., Medgar Evers, Malcolm X alot of justice… let alone JESUS CHRIST!

Where is Tamar Braxton when I need her?? This is a .org and a .com situation!
