My Mental Massage

image

Just because Thanksgiving Day has passed, there’s no reason to stop being grateful……..

Something that has brought a positive change in my life recently has been the practice of turning negative statements around and finding something in the circumstance for which to be grateful.

“I am thankful for my 11 year old – PRE -teen-ager who complained about doing dishes BEFORE he left to go with his dad, because that means he is at home, not out on the streets somewhere.

“I am thankful for the taxes that I pay, because it means that I’m employed. “I am thankful for the mess I have to clean up at my house, because it means I’m more fortunate than thousands of people around the world. I have a home.
image

“I am thankful for the clothes that fit a little too snugly, because it means I have plenty to eat. “I’m thankful for my shadow that watches me work, because it means I’m outside in the sunshine. “I am thankful for my mother’s house SMELLING HORRIBLE of cooking gizzards..chitlings etc… because that means that she is STILL ALIVE to drive me insane of eating these nasty things and making my clothes stink” LOL
image

“I’m thankful for my oldest son who is in college being moody over the last few weeks but he makes me smile everytime he CHOOSES to text and call me. Also for my daughter being even MORE moodier but smiles when she emails me.

“I’m thankful for all the complaining about government and politics, because it reminds me I live in a country that allows me freedom of speech. “I’m thankful for the parking spot I found all the way at the end of the lot, because it means I have the strength and ability to walk the distance.

“I’m thankful for my heating bill, because it means I am warm. “I’m thankful for the lady behind me in church who sings off-key, because it means I am blessed with the gift of hearing. “I’m thankful for the pile of laundry that reminds me that I — and my family — have plenty of clothes to wear.

“I’m thankful for weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day, because it means I’m capable of working hard and making a contribution to the lives of others. “I’m thankful each day when the alarm goes off, and I hear it, because it means I’m still alive. There is still time to serve God and others. There are still opportunities to make a difference.

“Each day is a gift. Each burden holds a blessing, and every moment of life offers an opportunity that will come only once in a lifetime.

“I am thankful — just because — I am.”

Mothers and Sons

image

As much as my kid works my nerves… I do love hanging out with him…. Just going out to hang out with friends is soo relaxing mentally.. It’s been just me and him for so long that as a single parent..I need space a few times a week.
image

However, it is rightfully so (in my son’s mind of course) that if we aren’t together…he needs to know my very whereabouts! ! I used to tell him ALL 10 things…  BUT know I had to literally scale it back / down to like 4 things.. . .  I set up an atmosphere that he felt as if it was his RIGHT TO KNOW my every single whereabouts!!! Lol
WhileI’m out doing MY own thing and just breathing my own air without my kid trying calculate how much I breathed WITHOUT HIM…..
image

When I pick him up to head home….I actually have the nerve to miss him as well…LOL – He indeed is a special kid…

I Love The Number 74

image

Today is MY mommy’s birthday!!!!!!!!! After ALL of what she has been through lately I am honored to celebrate her awesome LIFE at 74 of age…… Thank you Jesus!
image

Food, prayer, gifts, games, laughter and amazing fellowship just blesses her very soul right now….. (she’s soo happy right now)
image

Personally, I am indeed just sooo grateful AND thanful for TIME with family… Time is something that cannot be “bought” so you have to really enjoy and respect quality vs. quantity. ….
image

Glad to make my mom happy with the little things in this life… She is just happy to have some of her family with her…… Making her SMILE is indeed a goal that I strive to meet daily with God’s direction.

Blessed Mothers –

image

For ANYONE who has read a few of my posts know that besides the other RANTS that I may do from time to time – talking about being a parent – talking about politics – talking about relationships – talking about ministry – I SURELY do a great deal of blogs about who I affectionately call ym “Mommy Cakes” ……… She indeed is utterly amazing!
image

Blessed are the Mothers who love God, for their children shall  not be ignorant of their Creator and His plans about them.  Blessed are the Mothers who love the word of God, for their children shall know of the way, the truth and the life.
image

Blessed are the Mothers who love the house of God, for their  children shall enter there and sit with them in the presence of God. Blessed are the Mothers who love to pray, for their children  shall feel the power of prayer and many shall find salvation. Blessed are the Mothers who love to give to the cause of Christ,  for their children shall become supporters of the Kingdom of God.
image

Blessed are the Mothers who love the family altar, for they  shall have their reward in this world and in the world to come. Blessed are the Mothers who love to speak kind words to their  neighbor’s children, for thereby they shall win  other boys and girls besides their own to Jesus Christ. Blessed are the Mothers who love to be companions to their  children, for they shall be called understanding Mothers.
image

Blessed are the Mothers who love to fight life’s battles  bravely with a strong and steadfast faith in God, for their  children shall know where to find strength in time of need. Blessed are the Mothers who, when they are old and gray,  can look back upon memory’s wall with no regret and can say,  “I brought my children up in the fear of the Lord.”  Theirs are the mansions in glory.

Celebrating Family –

image
image

Oh how I cannot explain how being with LOVED ones can make you feel – Life can be so up and down at times – so when you are able to spend your time with Family – it is a wonderful feeling –

image
image

As always…. I am re inventing myself – my thoughts – my choices – my views – my stances – my morals – my values – my beliefs and I am becoming a better individual for Christ’s sake –

image
image

image

I am just humbled to feel loved – humbled to be loved – humbled to share in life’s experiences – etc..etc.etc… Being grateful indeed is a choice – I choose – to love – to be happy – to live – to be inspired ….

image

image

No one knows when their last day will be upon this evolving earth to see your loved ones – so why NOT spend AS MUCH TIME as possible with them? It DOES NOT have to be for any apparent reason – how about “just because”…

image
image

image

These last few months have really have me in a very DIFFERENT – WEIRD – INTERESTING – INSPIRING – EYE OPENING – TRANSPARENT etc…etc..etc.. for ME –

Do you NOT feel that indeed life is too short? Are you wasting time with situations…people..things that you know that you should not be?
image

image

It is 2013 and will be 2014 in almost 5 SECONDS…..

Life is short and it is crazy that people will settle for anything that they do not want in their life – why be miserable when you actually have the POWER to “fix things” yourself –

image

Peace and Love are two PLATINUM things that I search for – hold onto and need in my life

A Mother’s Random-ness

image

Just proud of my son – nothing major to blog about at this present moment besides I am just proud of him……. he is almost 12 and things could be so completely different.

image

The world that we live in and what is displayed on the television does NOT depict him in any form or fashion. He has been a honor roll student since he was 6, plays 3 sports and 2 instruments and is trying to master 1 foreign language –
image

He has great friends – great opportunities -and options for his life – He chooses to be respectful and love Christ – does he have a few not so good days? YES – does he sometimes find himself on punishment? YES does he have to clean and do chores around the house? YES –
image
image

However, I am speaking as the average black male growing up in America being raised in a single parent household and having only a handful of male mentors in his life and none are related to him at all – he is indeed a great boy –
image
image

I am thankful that God has allowed me “to borrow” my son and I pray that I am doing an amazing job in the eyes of The Lord – let my son tell it – everyday he shares with me that I am a good mother – but you never know if he is just trying to “warm me up” for something that he saw in the store! LOL

Breast Cancer AND Socks –

image

First of all, do I look like I wanted to be out this late??? Okay – breast cancer awareness is an amazing movement and with all of the hundreds of millions of dollars that this organization has raised – THEY BETTER be on the verge of a cure!!!!!
image

Nonetheless, middle schools and high schools all across the country participates in some form or another to show their support during the month of October – Well my son is REALLY finally getting into the groove of supporting breast cancer awareness because he understands MORE NOW of what the disease is and what it does to people’s lives AND he knows that his grandfather also died from cancer –
image

Welp, honey –  I need ANYBODY / SOMEBODY / a cat – a dog – a mouse – an elephant etc to scream to the hills to MY KID – that I am an awesome mother! LOL – He knows it – he tells me at least 3 times a week how much he appreciates me…..

( ummm – This is the part where MOMS will sy…. Well appreciate me by keeping your room clean! ) LOL – So serious though….
image

Lately although he semi – deserves “some of the things” that I get for him but he feels that he no longer really has to “work for them” anymore – YES – I am apart of the blame …maybe because I super duper spoiled him – “but still” right?
image

Well – its late and I got up to RUN TO THE MALL so this little boy can have PINK SOCKS to wear and support Breast Cancer Awareness with the rest of the school tomorrow!

Yes, the boy is wearing a pink shirt too! – Trying to find pink sneaker laces – but that is a bit too much….. Thanks Susan B. Komen for the late night run! – : )
