Biblical Parenting…..TMP

image

Biblical parenting is not for cowards or wishy – washy parents. It take courage to set principles and stick to them. Be brave today, you can do this!

Biblical parenting says, deferred gratification is good and necessary to train patience but also to train out selfishness and the “ME” in a child!

Biblical parenting is directly opposed to democratic or humanistic parenting. Biblical parenting says that man has a sin nature that parents must train out of our children in order to pave a path of responsible behavior in them.

Biblical parenting also see that conflict is a reality of life and that resolution of conflict is good. Too many parents try to shield their children from conflict and their children develop no coping skills. Let them work it as you provide wisdom and clarity!

Addiction –

image

I never thought in a million years that I would become a Drug and Alcohol Case Manager – It is a field that you MUST care whole heartedly about the people in addiction. If not – it will NOT work for you and it will surely hinder the people that you are supposed to be helping in the long run!

Although many people struggle with addiction in their lives, not all of them are able to overcome it. Your chances of being successful in becoming healthy and making a full recovery depend on many things, including how driven you are to succeed and live a healthier and better life overall. Having support is definitely one of the most important things that can either make or break a person when it comes to trying to beat addiction. Those who have family and friends that support them through their initial recovery period tend to do much better than those who do not have anyone to be there for them.  I ALWAYS tell my them that in order to avoid a relapse you will want to let everyone who you are close to know about what you are going through so they will be able to help you in any way possible.

Addiction can be tough, which is why you will need to have an action plan that details exactly how you are going to go about overcoming your problems. If you are addicted to drugs for example, detox will not be enough to free you of the stranglehold that they have on you. There is definitely a physical aspect to addiction, but a lot of it is also psychological. Be sure to come up with multiple ways to stay healthy, because it really is a day-to-day process. There is no single miracle cure that will be able to help you overcome your addiction overnight.

Drug courts and mentors and case managers like myself really try our best to help addicts / alcoholics succeed in recovery. However, there are two critical pieces to unraveling the cycles of addiction and therefore to preventing recidivism. Why? Because addiction is a chronic, but treatable, brain disease.
image

If addiction is left untreated (and treatment is far more complicated than just stopping drinking or using the substance), the individual with the disease is very likely to relapse after their release from jail, and very likely their relapse will lead to more criminal behavior. Not only that, but treatment of this brain disease requires long-term continuing care to insure the necessary re-wiring (healthy brain changes) and trigger prevention tools are in place that will allow an individual to succeed in their recovery.

Many crimes are committed by addicts/alcoholics because of the characteristics of the disease of addiction, namely: cravings, loss of control, tolerance and physical dependence. It is the “insanity” of the brain disease of addiction that causes them to do bad and/or illegal things, like stealing and what this “insanity “is about).

Drug courts provides an alternative to jail or prison time by going after the root of the person’s problem — the reason he/she committed the crime — their addiction (whether that be an addiction to drugs or alcohol). Drug court helps a person get and stay clean and sober and if that person succeeds in drug court, they avoid jail or prison time and a record. Last but not least, people who are involved in addiction need pray and help and it takes a great deal of services from the community, government agencies, support from family and friends to help KEEP THEM SOBER –

– Are Parents Aware?

image

My son is about 7 or 8 years old in this photo above and I could just remember his personality even back then…. He was very strong willed / minded for his age and it was a beautiful season to watch him be 7 or 8 years old “on paper” …..but Naturally and Spiritually he was SOOO MUCH OLDER!! Or should I say wiser….

Even down to video games – if it is not a sports game like baseball, soccer – forget about it – parents who allow their kids to play things like Call of Duty do not understand what they are getting themselves into!!

– but just imagine that if I did not steer him in the right direction of what is right and wrong – who knows how he would have turn out –

Video games that are displaying killing, cussing, vulgar and explicit acts puts your children’s mind – body – soul and SPIRIT at risk……

The behaviors of kids today are so out of control and it isn’t just the videos games, but the things that they are viewing, the music they listening to etc… the disrespectful behavior to authority is just simply mind boggling.

However, as a parent… you must first even believe in the things that I am speaking of to even understand the point of this post…..

Try Jesus Christ….. let Him come into your heart and speak to you in regards to raising / rearing your children.

Without Christ… THERE IS NO WAY that my son would be the young Christian man that he currently is……for that I certainly am grateful everyday-

Methodists

Whether your light is bright, dull, or completely out, you are loved. You can be a light bulb, turnip bulb, or tulip bulb. Bring a bulb of your choice to the Sunday lighting service and a covered dish to pass.

“The Importance of Values and Morals.” Sounds like a no-brainer of an article for us, a people of faith. They are the code we live by in a civil and just society. They are what we use to guide our interactions with others, with our friends and family, in our businesses and professional behavior. Our values and morals are a reflection of our spirituality; our character. They are what we hope to model for our children and the children around us, because children do watch us as they develop their own sense of right and wrong. Everyone knows their importance, don’t they?

Well, maybe not. One only has to watch Jerry Springer-type shows or the spate of “Reality TV Shows” to find evidence to the contrary. Every day in the news we hear about crooked politicians, greedy CEOs, insider trading, embezzling evangelists caught in “love triangles,” “good Christians” doing very bad things. On talk-radio, news shows, at our churches, all around us, we hear about the decline of values, morals, ethics, civility, manners and, of course, common decency. People talk nostalgically about the “good old days” when Americans lived according to a set of standards of which they could be proud.

So have we really become a nation without values and morals? I don’t think so. It’s just that everyone has their own ideas about which values and morals are the ones we should follow. The choices are as varied as our country is heterogeneous. One only has to look inside the different church denominations to see the diversity of concepts about moral behavior. That realization doesn’t stop each of us from believing that our particular values and morals form the “right” set– the set everyone else should accept as well…….

The land was BUILT upon Christian principles but now that our land is BUILT – we want to do our own thing and make up our own rules to live by –

Well to be honest – that is how the civil war occurred on American soil…… How about we grab what legislation is good for EVERYONE and throw away the rest!

Baffled

This is NOT the look of a 10 year old boy who had a birthday the day before and was given a great deal of things and went a lot of places. This cannot be the same person with this expression on his face can it? I am still confused MYSELF of this little transition from yesterday until today……

His face is displaying the reaction from his AMAZING mother punishing him because of something the he chose to do THIS MORNING! Yes we are SUPPOSE to still be in celebration mode for his birthday BUT when you make the wrong choices in life – THINGS HAPPEN.  The world does not care what day of the week it is….who’s birthday it is….who died… who was born…..who is sad….who is crying…..who got married…who is joyful…..etc..etc..etc.. Learn early son and it will make your life EASIER.

I REMINDED him how good of a Parent that I have been and that he knows that I only request CERTAIN LITTLE things via his behavior. I am raising him as a Christian, God -Fearing and respectful wisdomatic boy. He knows better and that is why it bothered me as well to place him on punishment at 6 am this monring when we had such an awesome time yesterday and the AMAZING things that I had planned for him via the rest of the weekend. Nonetheless, we all have to learn lessons in life and I am glad that I can be the one to teach him a variety of them….all within the confinments of my home.

Happy Birtthday anyway Button Drop!! You will learn from this and respect me for it later! Being disobedient can cause damage to your own life!
