“The Importance of Values and Morals.” Sounds like a no-brainer of an article for us, a people of faith. They are the code we live by in a civil and just society. They are what we use to guide our interactions with others, with our friends and family, in our businesses and professional behavior. Our values and morals are a reflection of our spirituality; our character. They are what we hope to model for our children and the children around us, because children do watch us as they develop their own sense of right and wrong. Everyone knows their importance, don’t they?

Well, maybe not. One only has to watch Jerry Springer-type shows or the spate of “Reality TV Shows” to find evidence to the contrary. Every day in the news we hear about crooked politicians, greedy CEOs, insider trading, embezzling evangelists caught in “love triangles,” “good Christians” doing very bad things. On talk-radio, news shows, at our churches, all around us, we hear about the decline of values, morals, ethics, civility, manners and, of course, common decency. People talk nostalgically about the “good old days” when Americans lived according to a set of standards of which they could be proud.

So have we really become a nation without values and morals? I don’t think so. It’s just that everyone has their own ideas about which values and morals are the ones we should follow. The choices are as varied as our country is heterogeneous. One only has to look inside the different church denominations to see the diversity of concepts about moral behavior. That realization doesn’t stop each of us from believing that our particular values and morals form the “right” set– the set everyone else should accept as well…….

The land was BUILT upon Christian principles but now that our land is BUILT – we want to do our own thing and make up our own rules to live by –

Well to be honest – that is how the civil war occurred on American soil…… How about we grab what legislation is good for EVERYONE and throw away the rest!

My Sister – Friend……

image

I have to say I have one of the best sisters in the world. We are best buddies, we have built a friendship that has been intended to last forever. Have we always got along? Absolutely not!!!! We fought, slapped, griped, connived, deceived and a bunch of other unmentionables. Why are we best friends? Distance, Pain and Love – that’s why! I was a spoiled BRAT as a child – shame on ME.

But there is no reason why sisters should not be close…..I mean well, why not? Although, GOD KNOWS that we are very different from one another, but yet share the same blood, that is one good reason to love each other. Even though I feel that I was a “mean girl” to her when I was 12 years old and wanted to cause her pain….. love soon resolved the matter and we tearfully made it right and moved on. A moment of forgiveness is more powerful than years of resentment, refrain, abandonment, discord, degrading and avoiding.

There is a certain amount of love and commitment when you are of kindred blood, but if that isn’t enough then we have to selflessly invest into the relationship and be a die-hard mediator that pursues unity. Oh, I almost forgot to say that I love her and feels that she indeed is pretty awesome! LOL

Encouraging Myself –

The difficult teen will do things their own way, in their own time, regardless  of your wishes or schedule.
The good teen will do what you ask, when you ask,  even though they may complain a little.
It’s easy to love a good  child.

The difficult teen will try your patience and understanding every  day.  They will challenge the depths of your love, the core of your soul  numerous times throughout each day, until you wonder if you have any strength  left.  The good teen will try your patience and understanding from time to  time. They will challenge your ability to see just how many extracurricular  activities you can cram into each day, until you wonder if you have any energy  left.
It’s easy to love a good child.

The difficult teen will sneak  out of the house at night to buy drugs, only to have the police knock at your  door at 3am on a work night so you can come down to the station to pick them up.  They’ve been arrested.
The good teen will sneak out of the house at night (on  a weekend) to TP the soccer coach’s house after a big win, only to go back to  the coaches house the next morning.  To help clean up.
It’s easy to love a  good child.

The difficult teen will skip school, even when you drop them  off out front and watch them walk inside.  No matter how hard a parent tries to  help or force a child, the difficult teen may not graduate from High School.   The difficult teen won’t be going off to college.  The good teen might  consider skipping a class or two, but doesn’t want to get caught. A parent  doesn’t have to make an effort to keep a good kid in school. The good teen  ponders which college they should attend.
It’s easy to love a good  child.

The difficult teen is often withdrawn from family.  They don’t  smile a lot, they don’t get real enthusiastic about much. A parent’s heart breaks  a little more every day.  The good teen is often tells family about things  that happened during their day.  They smile and laugh a lot, and are enthusiastic  about a lot of things. A parent’s heart soars a little more every day.
It’s  easy to love a good child.

So many people give up on the difficult teen.   Write them off as being unworthy of their efforts.  Distrust, because they don’t  understand.  Give up because it’s the easiest thing to do.  So many people  cheer for the good teen.  Try to help them in any way they can. Trust them,  because it’s not hard to do so.  Encourage them to succeed because they seem to  want to.
It’s easy to love a good child.

SAMSUNG

It’s easy to love the good  teen.  The parent’s of them, thank God their life is going as planned.  That  they have good children to love. Sure, a parent loves their good teen  unconditionally. But they haven’t really had to put that to the test.  They  haven’t had to test the limits of their understanding and forgiveness.  Their  souls and faith are intact because they haven’t been shattered. Do they realize  that the most important things in life are the little things? The path of the  good teen may not be exactly what a parent would have chosen, but they know that  everything will turn out all right.
It’s not easy to love the difficult teen.  But I thank God for  them, for without the difficult teens, how can we possibly understand what  unconditional love really is?  How would we know just how deeply we can love,  and how easily we can forgive?  How would we otherwise test the endurance of our  souls, the depths of our faith?  How else would we realize just how strong we  really are?  How else would we know what is TRULY important in life.

The path  of the difficult teen may not be what a parent would have chosen, but it is the  hand that they were dealt.

Raising Daughters

Uggghhhh!!! Can you feel the ugggggghhhhh in my voice and in my heart, I mean seriously!

The whole point of punishment and discipline is helping to keep our children safe and teaching them to be good human beings. But what if they keep pushing back? Is there a time when you have to just let them face the sometimes-ugly results of their actions?  Uggghhh! This can be difficult for a parent, who wants the best for their child, to accept.

My super silly 10 year old son gives me NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PROBLEMS whatsoever! Lord, help because they are like night and day.. I really wish that she had even HALF of his tendencies!

I mean my daughter who is 19 speaks the language of wanting to CHANGE but does not whole heartedly put forth the actions via the language of wanting to CHANGE! So what is a Christian Single Parent to do…….. Pray…Pray…Pray….. but in the meantime – between time and NOW –

I want to CHOKE as well as HUG my daughter daily…. I shared with her that we have a Culture Clash issue – the way that I live and condition my house is not ANYTHING of what she has been exposed to and used to since she has not been living with me and it can make a person COO – COO for COCOA PUFFS!

She has such a huge heart but my GOD!!!!!!!!!! So rugged and rough around the edges – I mean heck –  who would NOT want change if they have been living in a crazy state of being?

A family is not a democracy. I have REFUSED and will not be swayed by the “it’s a free world” and “I can do what I want” argument. God placed me to be her dictator, and for good reason. Democratic families crumble………..we are not on the same level – I just wish that she would really get that MUCH NEEDED epiphany – sooner than later….

uggghhhh…….. whew…I needed to vent and now I am 75% better……..

Family Laughter

Times like these make me appreciate the SIMPLE things of life…… Nothing major but just having fun and realizing that the BEST things in life are indeed FREE!

Being able to spend quality time is always priceless and it is something that seemingly cannot be made up for. You are either there or you are not there…… Pick your choices wisely and remember that time does not wait for anyone!……..

The moments that we share with my family are precious and I fight to forgive daily….. Relationships take so much work and things will transpire that may not be apart of our plans but time, pray and faith does wonders!!

My kids…..my kids…my kids are very special to me- even when they do not act right!! ( i guess ) LOL

A Great Tip!

This is an AMAZING tip for Christian Singles!!! ( actually anyone ) but if they do not understand nor believe in God granting …blessing….connecting you with the God given mate rather than just “the right mate”…. this may NOT be for them!

I have watched movies and then fell all super duper in love with “the thought” of LOVE! Movies like P.S. I Love You had me crying for like a month and then made me fall totally head over heels in love with actor Gerard Butler

You know, the main star who played in the Roman movie called 300 with his favorite phrase >>> THIS IS SPARTA!! LOL ( love it )

I ” all of a sudden ” had an interest in going to Ireland! LOL What am I doing going to Ireland!!!LOL How many black Irishmen / Irishwomen do you know or? Okay, maybe 2 huh!!?? LOL

Welp, God helped me really quick because he allowed me to see another movie that the star played in called The Ugly Truth as well as seeing him go from woman to woman in the Hollywood lifestyle! Geesh, I woke up really quick!!!!  LOL
